Michael Paul Briggs

Michael Paul Briggs, 61, passed away at his home, following a brief illness, on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

Michael was born on July 11, 1963, in Providence, RI. He lived the early parts of his life in several places across the country including Atlanta, Chicago, New Hampshire (where he met his wife, Belinda) and South Carolina. Michael and Belinda then moved to Oviedo, FL, calling it home for 24 years, before moving to Winston-Salem, NC, where he spent the last 3 ½ years of his life.

Michael spent many successful years working various management positions in the hospitality industry, throughout the country as well as the Caribbean. He eventually changed careers and shifted to the parking industry. The last several years of his career were spent as VP of Operations for a parking technology company (Amano McGann).

Michael enjoyed travelling and was an excellent travel planner. He mapped out and coordinated numerous vacations to spend quality time with his family and friends. Michael was also an avid golfer and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He rooted for all the Chicago teams, except when it came to baseball, he was strictly an Atlanta Braves fan. He also took a big interest in old cars, and was especially fond of his ’76 Land Cruiser, “Yota”.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Earl Briggs; maternal grandparents, William and Evelyn Sullivan; paternal grandparents, Geneva and Earl Briggs; and father-in-law, Russell “Warren” James.

Surviving family includes his wife, Belinda Briggs; daughter, Danielle Briggs; mother, Paula Sullivan Smith (Stephen); stepsister, Eleanor “Missy” German (Rich); mother-in-law, Kathleen James; many extended family and friends; and two very special feline boys, Felix and Oscar.

Michael’s family will hold a private service in Winston-Salem in his memory. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/give.html

Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
