Michael Dean Atkins

 Mr. Michael (Mike) Dean Atkins, 70, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023.  He was born October 15, 1952, in Forsyth County to the late Fordie Lee Atkins and Grace Gunnell Atkins.

Mike was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was best known as an avid amateur radio operator under the callsign N4VE. Mike was a highly knowledgeable and respected member of the HAM radio community for over 35 years. His contributions will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He enjoyed many activities including fishing, golfing, and exploring Mount Airy. He also enjoyed supporting Goodwill Industries stores in the area with his best friend Barbara Cline.

In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Atkins and sister, Janice Cash.  He is survived by his son, Jason Atkins.
