Mervin Ann Griffith passed away peacefully on January 31, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, NC. She was born on October 6, 1935 in Winston Salem, N.C. to Jasper and Annie Mitchell Miller. Ann was a long-time resident of Bald Eagle Lane in Wilmington, NC, and a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Hampstead, NC. She was a graduate of Western Carolina University and the Physical Therapy School of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She was a physical therapist, real estate developer, and community volunteer. She served on countless boards in her community and was the founder of an outreach program at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Hampstead, N.C. that was instrumental in networking with local farmers to help deliver thousands of pounds of fruits and vegetables to agencies and local families in need of nutritious food. This important program continues today thanks to her vision and work. Two brothers, Hugh Max Miller of Athens, GA. and Clayton Carroll Miller of Winston Salem, and her parents, preceded her in death. Surviving are her son, Michael Shane Griffith, two sisters, Martha Bergland of Watertown, MN., and Ellen Lynn Miller of Winston-Salem, as well as several nieces and nephews, and friend and caregiver, Jane Porter, of Wilmington, N.C. She will be laid to rest in the Friedburg Moravian Cemetery in Winston Salem, along with her parents. Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare of Wilmington, N.C., Friends of Felines of Castle Hayne, N.C., and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Hampstead, N.C.
