Walker- Mrs. Merrill Marie West Walker, 85, of Winston-Salem, NC, died on November 6, 2011 at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines, NC. Mrs. Walker was born in Guilford County on September 16, 1926 to Thomas Clarence and Eva Beeson West of Oak Ridge, NC. She graduated from Summerfield High School in Summerfield, NC and lived most of her adult life in Winston-Salem. She was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. Mrs. Walker was employed by Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital for many years. In the earlier years of her life, she was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Kernersville, NC where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and spending time with her family and neighbors on her Bellview Street porch. She always was willing to help those in need by providing a home cooked meal, transportation, or to purchase weekly groceries. She will be remembered as a good friend for both service to her community and family. Mrs. Walker was a wonderful mother and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Milton (Wylie) Dillingham of Greensboro, NC, Mrs. Gary (Sharon) Robinson of Whispering Pines, NC, and Mrs. Randy (Susan) Buckland of Glen Allen, VA; grandchildren, Mrs. Gavin (Teresa) Shaw of Holly Springs, NC, Matt Robinson of Whispering Pines, NC, Molly Robinson of Raleigh, NC, and Ryan Buckland of Glen Allen, VA; great-grandchildren, Sam and Sophie Shaw of Holly Springs, NC. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Myra) Walker of Kernersville, NC and a brother, Mr. T. C. West, Jr. of Pittsboro, NC.; step-grandchildren families: Rhonda Dillingham, Bill and Tess Perdue of Asheboro, NC, Mrs. Sky (Catie) Bennett, Mrs. Chris (Rebecca) Panel, and Annabeck Panel of Wake Forest, NC. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 2pm in the Brown Auditorium at Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC.
