Merrianne Marsi Hendrix Vernon

Mrs. Merrianne ""Marsi"" Hendrix Vernon, 53, of Winston-Salem, NC spread her wings and peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born January 27, 1956 in Wytheville, VA to the late Catherine Kimble Hendrix and Dr. Paul Corneliuson Hendrix. Mrs. Vernon was a member of Home Moravian Church. She was the daughter of a Navy nurse. Her father was a MASH Unit Dr. during the Korean War. She loved cooking, gardening and reading. Mrs. Vernon loved living on St. Thomas, where she loved snorkeling. She was also an avid Carolina Panthers fan. Surviving are her husband, Kirk Vernon; one daughter, Jamie Robin Vernon; two sons, Robert Paul Long and Thomas Grey Long and two brothers, Samuel Hendrix and David Hendrix. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Her family would like to thank the staff of WFU Baptist Medical Center Intensive Care Unit 4C and to Dr. Colin Gallahan for their extraordinary care of Mrs. Vernon.
