KernersvilleMerlyn Sink Stokes, much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on October 14th, 2011. She was born in Forsyth County on July 14, 1934 the second daughter of the late Ryan Alexander and Wilda Pauline Hedgecock Sink. She graduated from Glenn High School. A working Mom, for 32 years, she spent most of her career in the medical field ultimately retiring from Pediatric Associates where she was a mother to the thousands of children whose mothers' called in for advice. Four children and nine grandchildren were her pride and joy. A loving wife, she was married to AG Stokes for 58 years. Merlyn is survived by husband, AG Stokes, daughter and husband, Melanie and Ron White, daughters, Laura Stokes and Paula Qualliotine, and son and wife, Sandy and Melanie Stokes; grand-children: Cameron, Taylor and Rex White; Carter and Anna Leigh Lassiter; Rachel and Ryan Qualliotine; and Michael and Conner Stokes; sisters Nancy Forcum, SuEllen Pruitt, Carrene Sink and brothers Richard and Tommy Sink. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 16 at Hayworth-Miller funeral home on Silas Creek Parkway. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3pm on Sunday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Piedmont Hematology Oncology Associates and Hospice Palliative Care for their compassionate care and with particular thanks to Dr. Judith Hopkins, Dr. Marc Slatkoff, and Judy Moore. Special thanks also to Dr. Peter Cullen for his lifelong care.
