Meredith “Lynn” Carr McIntosh,78, passed away Feb 6, 2023. Her precious but strong heart was ready to rest after a long battle with COPD. Lynn was born December 22, 1944, in Princeton, West Virginia, to Dr. Warren T. Carr and Martha Knox Carr. As a child her family moved to Durham NC., where her father was the Pastor of Watts Street Baptist Church for 18 years. Dr. Carr moved the family to Winston-Salem, NC., where he became the Pastor of Wake Forest Baptist Church for 25 years. Lynn was involved in the church and led a Sunday school class for a few years. She spent the majority of her career as a professional singer/entertainer. She traveled with Charlie Pride and met Elvis Presley, among other artists. She was often asked to sing Patsy Cline's Crazy and I Fall to Pieces; she was so talented. She was loved by many and loved many unconditionally. She was a safe place. Days before she left this life she said she had a beautiful journey, she was not afraid and she wanted to go home. Lynn is survived by her three children, Heather L. McIntosh, Henley T. McIntosh, Ellen S. McIntosh (William “Billy” Truesdale); her grandchildren Morgan L. McIntosh, William T. McIntosh, Boone T. McIntosh, Jordan G Truesdale; her sisters Ellen C Boone and Deborah C Lemus. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, Marti, Meredith, Rob, Chasie (Jerry), Joshua, Melanie (Tate) , Jeff (Sheila) and Angie (Elden). In addition, 10 years ago, after 46 years, Lynn met her birth daughter Melinda (Steve) Duke-Clark as well as grandchildren Renee Howard, David Carmack, Cara Lawson, Josh (through Helen) Alcorn and great grandchildren Matthew, Rachel, Sylvia, Brianna, Addyleigh and Harlow. She reconnected with her loves, her bright lights, Charlene and Roque. The void in her heart was filled. Lynn was a friend of Bill's for 39 years. She walked in the rooms speaking only her truth. She wasn't anonymous because she wanted everyone to know her name so they could find her if they needed her; they always found her. She touched so many lives and so many lives touched hers in those rooms; there are too many to name but they know who they are. Some of her parting words were to pray for her children, all of her children throughout the world. She will get things ready for all of her family, ALL of her family, she will be waiting.
An intimate service with family and close friends will be held at a later date. A celebration in the park with friends and family will also be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made out to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
