Mrs. Melna ""Monk"" Billings Dimmette, 81, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at her home. She was born March 10, 1930 in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late, James Romas and Betty Viola Bauguess Billings. Mrs. Dimmette was a member of Stoney Ridge Baptist Church in Traphill and attended Bethel Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. She was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company following 37½ years of service. She loved to make people laugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Junior Dimmette. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann Simpson and husband, Henry of Winston-Salem and Betty Smith and husband, Robbie of Lewisville; three grandchildren, Bucky Simpson, Austin Smith and Jordan Smith; one brother, Lillard Billings and wife, Pauline of Traphill; one sister, Thelma Mathis of Trap Hill; many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much, and a very special loving friend, Clay Mastin. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 PM at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church in Trap Hill with Rev. Garnis Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway.
