Melissa Shaffer Trott

KERNERSVILLE-Melissa Shaffer Trott, 37, passed away Friday, December 4, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Palo Alto, California. Melissa earned her degree in Early Childhood Education from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; and her maternal grandfather. Surviving are her father, Bill Shaffer and wife Laura of Kernersville; her mother Michele Dernay and husband Dan of CA; her daughter, Kayli Trott of North Versailles, PA; two sisters, Kristen Walker of Kernersville, Leslie Purnell of Salem, OH; and one aunt, Kathy Shaffer of Kernersville. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 pm Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Doug Watts officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Sunday, December 6, 2009 prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central North Carolina Chapter 2211 West Meadowview Road Greensboro, NC 27407.
