WINSTON-SALEM - Melba Rose Sink Lambeth passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011. She was born to Clyde Edward Sink, Sr. and Ethel Mae Conrad Sink on March 10, 1929 in Forsyth County. She was the fourth of five children: Clyde Edward, Jr., Ruby Elizabeth, Esther Mae, and Rex Albert. Melba's parents and siblings all preceded her in death. She was married on May 7, 1948 to her beloved husband, Minehardt Ray Lambeth, Sr., who also preceded her in death, after 38 years of marriage. She was a lifelong member of Friedberg Moravian Church where she was active in many roles within the church as Sunday School Teacher and Pianist, the Women's Fellowship where she served numerous years as president, Senior Handbells and Chorus, Senior Friends for which she would also serve as president, and she held several positions of responsibility within the Southern Province of the Moravian Church over her life. Her church and her faith in serving a Risen Lord was what sustained her through her entire life. She was retired from Baptist Hospital as Chief Medical Transcriptionist in X-Ray where she worked for 22 years. She later retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System where she was a Teacher's Aid in Kindergarten for 18 years, a job she truly loved. During her years with the school system, she would also work part-time, typing medical dictation for numerous doctor's offices in and around Winston-Salem. Finally, she retired from Lyndhurst Urological Associates after another 9 years of employment. Throughout her life, she was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to many. Some of her many joys in life were maintaining a clean home and yard, playing the piano, and travel. She is survived by: Son, Minehardt Ray Lambeth, Jr. and wife Marjy; grandson Todd and wife Gia, and great-granddaughter, Ana; Son, Michael Sink Lambeth and wife Regina; granddaughter, Mallory and fiancé©, Phillip Howard; grandsons Ryan and Trenton; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was so very proud of her Sink family heritage, her parents, her brothers and sisters and their families, of her cousins and in-laws and their families, of her childhood friends and classmates, and finally, and most especially of her children, grand-children and great-grandchild and she dearly loved them all. The family would like to extend our deepest heart-felt thanks to; Helen Bowen and Clay Sink, cousins who were extremely close to mother over the past years; the doctors and staff of the ACE unit and the Physical and Occupational Rehab. Center of the Sticht Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center; mom's in-home care givers, Frances Woodall, Christine Michael and Glenda Brown for the excellent care shown to her in her brief return home. The Funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 13 at Friedberg Moravian Church with Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating.
