Mrs. Melba Jean Church Barnett, 66, of Winston-Salem died Sunday, September 27, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born October 16, 1941 in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late William Albert and Bessie Lee Eller Church. Mrs. Barnett was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Wilkes County and enjoyed gardening and collecting dolls. She was a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Aulona Venita Church and Iris Iona Church and two brothers, Ralph Church and Gwyn Church. Survivors include her husband, George H. Barnett of the home; two sons, Greg Barnett and wife, Tammy of Kernersville and Joel Barnett and wife, Renae of Clemmons; two sisters, Edna Crotts of Oak Ridge and Doris Kearney and husband, Clyde of Pfafftown; five brothers, William Cears Church and wife, Etta of Aiken, SC, Edwin Church and wife Betty and Bobby Church and wife Maxine of Ferguson, Lloyd Church and wife, Jean of Wilkesboro and Jimmy Church of Pfafftown; four grandchildren, Dylan Barnett, Kayla Barnett, Aaron Barnett and Alyssa Barnett. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church, Wilkes County with Rev. Kevin Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church County, Wilkes County. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
