McDaniel Mack Sizemore

Mr. McDaniel ""Mack"" Sizemore, 85, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at his home. He was born July 12, 1923 in Stokes County to Daniel Gilbert and Stella Moser Sizemore. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years during WWII as Seaman First Class aboard the U.S.S. Lenoir where he took marines ashore at Okinawa and Iwo Jima. Mr. Sizemore was a member of Poplar Springs Church of Christ and attended Bethesda United Methodist Church, and for the last 19 years, attended Union Grove Baptist Church. He was a charter member of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department and co-owner of Smith and Sizemore Home Building. He loved the outdoors where he farmed all of his life. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Naomi Beeson Sizemore; a son, Garry Blaine Sizemore; and two sisters, Kate Hodgin and Ruth Lee White. Surviving are his wife, Wilma Robertson Sizemore of the home; two sons, Dannie E. Sizemore and wife Marie, Barry W. Sizemore and wife Dottie; a daughter-in-law, Laura B. Sizemore, all of Midway; three step daughters, Linda S. Weaver and husband Larry of Richmond, VA, Regina S. Ginn and husband Kelly of Linwood, and Connie S. Reeves and friend Ray Hales of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Suzanne Callahan and husband Trent, Brian Sizemore and wife Andrea, Joel Sizemore and wife Lisa, Jennifer Maready and husband Doug, Sarah Sizemore and fianc郩 Cameron Bridges, Tiffany Hemrick and husband B.J., and Bethany Cecil and husband Sam; four step grandchildren, Chad Weaver and wife Audry, Cyndi Bollander and husband Bill, Michael Phelps and wife Beth, and Christophor Phelps; thirteen great grandchildren; one nephew, Clark Hodgin; and one niece, Sharon Sink. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15th at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Harris and Pastor T.W. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery in Welcome. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
