WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Maxine ""Janet"" Grubbs Swain passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born March 15, 1930 in Forsyth County to the late Florence G. Grubbs and John Alfred Grubbs. Mrs. Swain was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church. She proudly catered for the Wake Forest basketball team and worked for the WS/FCS cafeterias. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Swain was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hugh Swain; and one son, David Kevin Swain. Surviving are one son, Alan Swain (Lori) of Round Rock, TX; three grandchildren, Kacey, Mollee and Sean Swain all of Round Rock, TX; one sister, Barbara Tuttle (Gilbert); one brother, James Grubbs; also, several nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. Brian Alverson and officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Online condolences may be made at www. hayworth-miller.com.
