Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Maxine Flynt Bovender passed away at the age of 91 years into the loving arms of her Savior on Monday, October 26, 2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on March 31, 1918 in Forsyth County to Edmund Burke Flynt and Nora Alice (Nee) Livengood Flynt. Mrs. Bovender was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandparent, and friend to many. She was a life long Moravian and was actively involved in many aspects of the church including teaching Sunday school, bible school, women's fellowship, church boards, senior adults, and the church choir. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Richard Bovender; a son, William Edmund Bovender; brothers, Paul, Ralph, Nat, Herman, Burke; and sisters, Helen and Ethel. She is survived by a son, Richard Roy Bovender and wife Linda; grandsons, Richard Edmund Bovender and Thomas Burke Bovender and wife Tonya of Columbus, Ohio; a granddaughter, Lori Faye Bovender and friend Parker Howey of High Point; and a special granddaughter, Catherine Ross of Raleigh; great granddaughters, Audra Helena Bovender of Raleigh and Tally Janine and Stela Grace Bovender of Columbus, Ohio. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday October 28,2009 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with the Dr. Worth Green and the Rev. Charlie Fishel officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Mission Projects at New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 County Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family extends a special thanks to nurses and staff at South Fork Assisted Living and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. They also wish to thank Immanuel Baptist Church and Starbucks for their hospitality.
