Mr. Max Lee Kuhns, Sr., 72, of Advance passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born May 3, 1942 in Cassville, PA to Nester and Kathleen Kuhns. He was a active member of Hillsdale United Methodist Church. Max loved the Lord, his family, neighbors and friends. He was a veteran with the U. S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, William Lane; beloved first wife, Sally; four brothers, Paul, Monroe, John and Dale Kuhns and a sister, Maxine Nead. Surviving are his beloved wife Sandi; a son, Max Kuhns Jr. (Mindie); two daughters, Marcy Sawyer (Mike) and Delilia Morris (Nobe); two sisters-in-law, Doris Kuhns and Barbara Kuhns; two step sons, Ken Mohan (Amy) and John Mohan (Andi); Bernice Jansen and Jenny Jansen, mother and sister of his late wife Sally and sixteen grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Hillsdale United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Webb officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
