Max Norris Baker

Mr. Max Norris Baker, age 80 of Rural Hall passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at his home. Max was born March 8, 1930 in Stokes County to the late Norman Era Baker and the late Sadie Ethel Sizemore Baker. Max was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He graduated from North Carolina State University and was a lifelong Wolfpack supporter. Max was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church in Rural Hall. As well as, a community leader in various professional and civic organizations. Max was a United States Air Force veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Rural Hall Lion's Club and the Stanleyville Civic Club. In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Baker and one sister. Max is survived by a son, Greg Baker and his wife Carrie of Roswell, GA. ; A daughter, Terri Gillespie and her husband Michael of Jackson MS; One brother Leo Baker and his wife Pat of King, NC. Max also left a legacy of seven grandchildren; Andy, Blair, Adam, Lamar, Zack, Mike and Jake. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Kingswood United Methodist Church in Rural Hall by Rev. Sidney Lanier. Burial will follow at Rural Hall Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Sunday evening February 20th from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M.
