Maud Smith Burns

Mrs. Maud Smith Burns, 93 of Clemmons passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Elms of Tanglewood, where she had resided since February 8, 2007. She was born August 15, 1918 in Ridgeway SC to Wade H. and Emma Robinson Smith. Mrs. Burns was a member of Advance Baptist Church and retired from Forsyth Hospital as Director of Admissions. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Shelton Burns and two sisters, Louise Strickler of Woodstock, VA and Mildred Holling of Myrtle Beach, SC. Surviving are a sister, Sadie Hunter of Norfolk, VA and her son, Wade S. Burns and his partner Jon Woodring of Advance. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Lanny Atkins officiating. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Park.
