Mrs. Mattie Sue Cranfill Simpson, 84, passed away February 2, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center.  She was born February 10, 1936 in Yadkin County to the late Bennett H. Cranfill and Rhoda Shore Cranfill.  Mattie was a dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church and very active in services there for as long her health allowed.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.  Her grandchildren were the love of her life.  She was a loyal caregiver to her husband, even when she had sickness challenging her wellbeing.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Hubert, Luther, Burley, and James Cranfill: two sisters, Mary Lee Smith, and Blanche Redding.  She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Rodney Scott Simpson; two sons, Kevin Simpson, Robert Simpson, and wife Leah; and three grandchildren, Jackson, Ian, and Natalie Simpson.  A private funeral service will be held for Mattie Sue Simpson.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 725 W. Dalton Rd., King, NC 27021, or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
