Mattie Crisp Minges

Mattie Louise Crisp Minges, 91, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully in the presence of family members at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center of Winston Salem. Mattie Lou was born to James Crisp and Mandy Dotson Crisp in Murphy, North Carolina. Mattie Lou graduated from Belmont High School, Gaston Memorial Hospital School of Radiology, and Gaston College. She worked in textiles for 25 years and at Gaston Memorial Hospital for another 25 years from where she retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gastonia. Mattie Lou was a loving and giving member of the community and worked with many charities including Meals on Wheels. She loved sports and her Duke Blue Devils. Louise was the loving and dedicated spouse to James Roger Minges of Gastonia, N.C. and was the wonderful mother of two sons - Patrick Neal Minges and Roger David Minges. Her son, Hubert, and her husband, James Roger Minges, preceded her in death. Her brothers and sisters - Grace, James, Gardy, Juanita, Ben, Hazel, Willie, Nealie, Bud and Julie, also preceded Mattie Lou in death. Her sons, Roger David Minges of Gastonia and Patrick Neal Minges and his wife Penny Payler of King, N.C., are left to cherish her memory. Louise will be buried with her husband. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at the Committal Shelter of Salisbury National Cemetery. There is no stated visitation. As Louise loved flowers, cut flowers may be sent to Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel, 305 Bethania Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
