Mattie Christine Payne Lawson

Mrs. Mattie Christine Payne Lawson passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Baptist Hospital. She was born in Patrick County, Virginia on January 10, 1942 to Ruth Elsie Bowman Payne and Moir Lee Payne. Mrs. Lawson was a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church and a faithful servant to the Lord. Her love for her family was never ending. The lights of her life were her grandchildren and she was theirs. We mourn her with heavy hearts. Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Marvin, Odell, Carl, Charles and Hub Payne. She is survived by her husband, Roger Lawson; one daughter, Karen Lawson Ferguson (Charles); two sisters, Violet Pettitt (Allen), and Inez Hicks (Frank); and two beloved grandchildren, Austin and Audra. A funeral service will conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 11 at Woodland Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Gammons officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
