Matthew Hoppe

KERNERSVILLE- Matthew Scott Hoppe, 59, passed away, Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on February 7, 1962, in Jackson County, IL to Joyce Wilson Bodenhamer and the late Lloyd Cecil Hoppe.

Mr. Hoppe was a born again Christian and was known to be a selfless person who always put others before himself. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Matthew was very family oriented and was a very loving father, grandfather, son and brother.  His niece, Natasha Ward held a special place in his heart and always will. She was basically another daughter to him. He was an excellent teacher and could fix anything he put his hands on.  He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and loved all music but rock and roll music was his go to, specifically AC/DC, Judice Priest and Johnny Cash.  Matthew was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.

One thing about Mr. Hoppe was he kept his circle small, if he wasn’t at home, you could find him “front porch sitting" with his best friend John Owens while Janice drank her coffee. They enjoyed their Sunday morning beer together after Matt worked his 12 hr shifts. Keith bennett on the other hand, his brother from another mother “Bruh” enjoyed their silly conversation and random texts in the middle of the night to just say “Bruh”. They all would get together and ride to Tamarack and just enjoy life as friends and family.

In addition to his father (Loyd C Hoppe) he was preceded in death by his brother, Loyd R Hoppe (Roscie); and his best friends Blain “Buster” Fox and David Sikes.

Surviving are his three sons, Cody Hoppe, Caleb Hoppe and Matthew Hoppe; two daughters, Erin Hoppe (Justin Harty) and Alexandria Hoppe;(Mother of Matthew and Alexandra, Christy Hoppe); three grandchildren Jaxton Hoppe, Cassious “Cash” Harty and Halo Harty; mother, Joyce Bodenhamer; two sisters, Kathy Worthen (Rick) and Kelly Hawkins (Keith); two brothers Christopher Hoppe and Clinton Hoppe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Military Honors.
