Mary Crater Williams

Mrs. Mary Crater Williams, 84, of Clemmons, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Williams was born in Forsyth County on September 2, 1928 to Nathaniel Faw and Frankie Bodenheimer Crater. She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Williams was a loving, caring, compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was totally devoted to her family and best showed her love by cooking delicious meals for them as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Williams; a daughter, Kathy Alspaugh and husband Glenn of Yadkinville; a son, Sonny Williams and wife Janie of Lansing; three grandchildren, Matthew Alspaugh and wife Katie, Seth Williams and wife Emily, and Nathan Williams; three great grandchildren, Jacob and Luke Alspaugh, and Aylabelle Williams; a sister, Elizabeth Spry; two sisters-in-law, Betty Crater and Mary Fishel and a cousin, Ree Johnson. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Smith and Rev. Russell Sheets officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Prior to the service there will be a private graveside service in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2390 Bethel Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Mother was blessed to have visits from Sonny's Pastor, Russell Sheets from Liberty Baptist Church in Ashe County, who made many trips to visit with her. Our heartfelt thanks go to mother's caregiver, Rhonda, who served her faithfully for the past 16 months following mother's stroke. We also want to thank the nursing staff of Neuro ICU and Palliative Care for their remarkable care. For the past week wonderful care was given to mother by the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
