Mrs. Mary Gayle Throckmorton, 92, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. She was born March 19, 1922 in Hanover, Virginia to Benjamin Franklin and Nettie Grymes Gayle. Mary worked for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for over 37 years and was a member of Salem Baptist Church for 50 years. She loved working in her flower garden, playing the harp and worked in ceramics for 20 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Throckmorton, a son, Jerry Wade Throckmorton, 3 sisters and five brothers. Surviving are a son, Kenneth James Throckmorton and wife, Elizabeth Ann, of Lexington; five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Howard Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 429 Broad Street, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27101 or to the Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, N.C. 27292.
