Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mecum Speaks got her wings to join her beloved husband Douglas Wilson Speaks, and her beloved Dad Ira Campbell Mecum and Mom Opal Collins Mecum, in heaven. She left behind her four beloved children: Donna Elizabeth Speaks Wagoner and husband Bobby, Debbie Gene Speaks Boles, Denise Speaks Moore and husband Morris, and Douglas Michael Speaks and wife Trish who all thought she was the best mother and are so proud she was chosen to be theirs. She had seven grandchildren that she dearly loved and who loved her: Timothy Douglas Wagoner, Christopher Mark Wagoner and wife Amber, Joseph Michael Boles, Matthew John Moore and wife Candace, Christopher Morris Moore, Kathryn Danielle Moore and Robert Alan Speaks and wife Rachel. She had nine great-grandchildren: Josh, Katie, Cheyenne, C.J. , Casey, Gabrelle , Garrett Wagoner, Alexzandrea Leighaira Boles and Sebastian Speaks who will miss their playmate in basketball and golf. She had a great-great - granddaughter, Savanah Rose Wagoner. Her great-grandson Tyler Ray Wagoner preceded her in death. She worked at R.J. Reynolds for thirty years. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church her whole life and enjoyed singing in the choir and making chicken pies. She will be missed by all as she was The BEST MOM and MEMAW and was loved dearly. She was 82 years young. She is also survived by her three sisters, Faye Lexus Holloway, Bonnie Jean Chappell and Wanda Louise Dixon and husband W.J. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 24th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kate B.
