Mary Patterson Simmons

Mrs. Mary Patterson Simmons, 85 formerly of Cloister Drive Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, May 29, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Simmons was born June 18, 1923 in Winston-Salem and was a lifelong member of Pine Chapel Moravian Church. She retired from Hanes Hosiery and was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star serving various offices including Worthy Matron. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Simmons, Jr. She is survived by her son, Wayne Simmons and wife Sharron of New Bern, NC two grandsons, Steve Simmons of Arlington, VA., and Brian Simmons and wife Betsy, two great-grandchildren, Hana and Makena all of Newark, DE., one niece and several nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, June 1, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Timothy Sapp and Rev. Norwood Green officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Moravian Graveyard (God's Acre). The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative care 101 Hospice Ln. Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Pine Chapel Moravian Church 324 Goldfloss St. Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
