Mary Louise Cox Shirley

Mrs. Mary Louise Cox Shirley, 85, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1928 in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late Walter Greeley Cox and May Geneva Tucker Cox. She was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church, and loved her church family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her step-mother, Margaret Keener Cox, brother, Edward Cox, sister, Shirley Stoddard and half-sister, Carol Cox. Surviving is her wonderful, loving husband of 60 years, Thomas; sons Macon (Cliff), Scott (Tereia); grandchildren, Salem, Taylor, Devin, Sara, Ellen, Christopher; step-grandson, Ethan; great grandchildren, Graylen, Olivia, Noah and Cole; and granddog, Eddie. The funeral will be conducted Friday at 11:00 am at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Mark Reed and Pastor Mark Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Crisis Control Ministries, 200 East 10th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
