Mary Lancos Shavel

Mrs. Mary Lancos Shavel, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 17, 1924 in Bayonne, NJ to Joseph and Ella Lancos. She spent most of her life in South Windsor, Conn. Mrs. Shavel was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kernersville. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Edward Shavel. Surviving are three daughters, Michelle Garraux of Bethel Park, Penn., Kim Hoover (Robert) of Winston-Salem and Jill Hisaw (Kelvin) of Byram, Miss.; seven grandchildren, David Garraux, Daniel, Michael and Gloria Hoover and Darren,Greg and Jeffrey Schwindaman and one brother, Stephen Lancos (Ann) of Hazlet, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
