Mary Saunders

RURAL HALL-Mary Greene Saunders, 95, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at her home. She was born September 26, 1922 to Major and Pansy Greene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Saunders; her son, Thurman Saunders, Jr.; a brother, Johnny Greene; and sister Betty Bodenheimer. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved spending time outside working in her yard. Mary was a member of Fairview Moravian Church. She retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was a supporter of World Vision since 1976. Surviving are her son, Richard Saunders; two daughters, Diane Tuttle (Gary) and Karen Burick; five grandchildren, Michelle, Kelly, Allan, Matt (Madison) and Misty; and eight great grandchildren, Zach (Nicole), Katelyn, Dylan, Haley, Seth, Reid, Jesse, and Savannah; three sisters Dean Carpender, Linda Stafford and Judy Elder; daughter-in-law, Leslie Saunders. A Graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 PM, Friday, January 19, 2018 at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall by the Rev. Jimmie Moore and Rev. Scott Venable officiating. The family will receive friends at Hayworth Miller Rural Hall Chapel, Friday, January 19, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The family extends a special thanks to Pat Mickey, family friend and caregiver, for her kindness and care.
