Mary Leona Rufty

Miss Mary Leona Rufty, 89 of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, December 21, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Miss Rufty was born June 7, 1920 in Alexander County to the late Jerome Dalton and Emma Elliott Rufty. She was the owner and operator of Leona's Beauty Salon for over 50 years and was a member of Ardmore United Methodist Church for 59 years, where she was an active choir member and served on the Altar Committee, which she chaired for many years. In addition to her parents, Miss Rufty was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Rufty Coe and a brother, Curlee Rufty. Surviving to cherish her memory are her sister, Catherine Rufty of Washington, DC and many friends. A Graveside Service will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, January 23, at Stony Point United Methodist Church Cemetery in Alexander County officiated by the Rev. Deval Michel Mason. A Memorial Service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Ardmore United Methodist Church offficiated by Dr. John Franklin Howard. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the Rufty Family
