Mary Nell Hutchens Reavis

REAVIS - WINSTON-SALEM Mrs. Mary Nell Hutchens Reavis passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on August 15, 1933 in Yadkin County to the late Nancy Ashley Hutchens and Herman Sampson Hutchens. Mary Nell was a beloved and faithful member of Winston-Salem First. She exemplified a unique commitment and approach to soul winning. Mary Nell was involved in counseling those who called for prayer and conducted prayer groups in her home. Her benevolent spirit was exhibited by opening her home to missionaries and students to stay free of charge as long as necessary. She worked for 35 years as a hairdresser out of her home, using that as another way to minister to people who came to her. Her bright spirit and love for God was an inspiration to all. In addition to her parents, Mary Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Reavis; four brothers: Earvin, Sidney, Bill and Glenn; and also, four sisters: Charlie Mae Cornelius, Margaret Thorpe, Gertrude Willard and Nancy Renegar. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Cook (Mark) of Mt. Airy and Lisa King (Rick) of Clemmons; five grandchildren: Sydney Cook, Colton Cook, Leigh Ann King, Caleb King and Daniel King. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Winston-Salem First with Dr. Mike Rakes officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
