Mrs. Mary Jones Miles, 85, of Winston-Salem went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 19, 2013. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to those who knew her. She was born April 8, 1928 in Elizabethtown, Bladen County, NC to the late Lambert Franklin Jones and Mary McDuffie Jones. Mrs. Miles was a member of Old Town Baptist Church and retired from Bell South with 26 years of service. She served as a hospice volunteer for many years and was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2004. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Briggs D. Miles, Sr., two grandsons, John Payne and Jeremy Marsh; three brothers, Malcolm F. Jones, Hardy Lee Jones, E. Colin Jones and two sisters, Tessie Cashwell Johnson, Lois Watson Anderson. Surviving are her five children, three daughters, Gwendolyn Annas and husband, Dennis of Lexington, Beverly Marsh and husband, Roland of Rural Hall and Malia Marion and husband, Ricky of Bolivia; two sons, Briggs David Miles, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Lexington and Allen Miles and wife, Marivee of Clemmons; ten grandchildren, Jonathan Annas and wife, Mary Jo, Jason Annas and wife, Candy, Amanda Annas, Elizabeth Haynes and husband, Bryce, Josh Marsh and wife, Brandi, Amanda Gearheart, Adam Marion, Nolan Payne and fiancée, Julie Fazio, Chelsea Miles, and Mallee Miles; sixteen great grandchildren, Hunter Annas, Caroline Annas, Carley Annas, Coleman Annas, Faith Annas, Jathan Washington, Heather Mackie, Cameron Mackie, Holly Mackie, Corbin Mackie, Braxton Haynes, Austin Marsh, Mya Marion, Joseph Marion, Adalyn Marion, and Kayleigh Sumner; one sister, Fannie Putnam and husband, Don of Cornelius; and one brother, Arnold Jones and wife, Thetus of Stedman. The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem. The funeral will be on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Old Town Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
