Mary Kathryn "Kate" Bowles McBride

Mrs. Mary Kathryn ""Kate"" Bowles McBride, 97, of Winston-Salem went to be with the Lord, Friday, January 2, 2015 at Regency Care of Clemmons. She was born March 9, 1917 in Surry County to Charles Preston and Sophronia Terrell Bowles. She was a member of Bethabara Moravian Church and was an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilven S. McBride, a son, David McBride, five brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Sheree McBride. Surviving are a grandson, Scott McBride and wife, Robin; a great granddaughter, Christian Williams, a daughter-in-law, Kathy T. McBride; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Bethabara Moravian Graveyard with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 PM Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethabara Moravian Church, 2100 Bethabara Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27106 or to Operation Smile, 6435 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA. 23509.
