Mrs. Mary Ellen Comer Mazzeo, 66, of Winston-Salem, passed away on April 24, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mary was born in Forsyth County on February 24, 1951, to Wilson Morrell and Carolyn Williams Comer. She graduated in the class of 1969 from West Forsyth High School. She worked in partnership with ""Duffy"" for 44 years in multiple businesses ranging from telemarketing sales, real estate, beverage and hospitality, to transportation. Most recently, they co-owned Triad Trans Inc. and until she was diagnosed with COPD, worked as treasurer and VP to CEO, Herman ""Duffy"" Mazzeo. After her diagnosis, she took on a more domestic role, where she maintained the home for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed Thursday lunches with High School friends at Panera. At first, just a couple ladies from her class attended, but now many more attend, and formed the group ""WWW"" also known as Wild West Women. Mary also enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, pansies were her favorite. She attended First Wesleyan Church on Old Salisbury Road, and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved her children and grandchildren and was a constant role model. If it wasn't nice, she didn't say it; and an undeniable aura of pure, white, goodness surrounded her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters. Surviving are her husband, Herman Henry Mazzeo; two daughters, Duffie Dawn of Winston-Salem, and Laura Mazzeo-Gouch (Jarrett) of Berlin Heights, OH; three sons, Vincent Willis (Anne) of Winston-Salem, Jason Mazzeo-Caponi (Angela) of Castalia, OH, and Cruz Perez of Winston-Salem. Also, surviving are 15 grandchildren, Laura Braden, Thomas Risner, Jeremy Risner, Elyssa Rogers, Vito Rogers, Zach Willis, Ally Willis, Nikki Philbrick, Emily Philbrick, Clayton Philbrick, Ryan Flannery, Rocco Willis, Adrianna Mazzeo, Jacob Caponi, and Jayla Caponi; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Vivian Comer, Barbara Martin (Joe), and Alice Hill; one sister-in-law, Mary Savage-Elyria; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. John Nelson of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. The family would like to extend gratitude to Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care for their care and compassion during Mary's final hours.
