Mary Lyons

Mrs. Mary Lee Beale Lyons, 88, of Winston-Salem went home to be with her LORD on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Mary Lee was born in Forsyth County to the late George Beale and Blanche Hartle Beale on September 18, 1933. She graduated from Griffith High School in 1952. Mary Lee loved her church family; she was an active and faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church until Alzheimer’s prevented her from attending. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was quite the artist, she would draw, and paint people, flowers, fruit and landscapes on paper, canvas and even the occasional birdhouse. She gave away many hand-painted gifts in which her family and friends continue to treasure today. Mary lee loved getting outside and working in her beautiful flower gardens and spending time with her family. She retired from Hanes Hosiery, where she worked in the Stamping and Folding Dept. In addition to her parents Mary Lee was preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnny Lyons and four sisters: Barbara Auman, Patsy Cheek, Rachel Hill and Linda Billings. Mary Lee is survived by her two children, Jon “Rodney” Lyons (Deana) of Winston-Salem, and Cindy Williams (Jerry) of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Eric Carr, Katrina (Rodney) Darr, and Justin Lyons; and two great grandchildren, Jacob Darr and Nevaeh Williams. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her grandson Eric for the loving care he gave her during the time of her illness, as well as the Trellis Supportive Care, South Team for all their care and support. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Union Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor T.W. Bailey and Pastor Harold Fletcher officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 2295 Union Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27295 or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC, 27103.
