Mrs. Mary Ellen Boyd Brown Lawson, 92, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born in Forsyth Co. on August 24, 1920 the daughter of the late Rev. Jesse Franklin Boyd and Eliza Jane Cromer Boyd. Mrs. Lawson was of the Baptist faith and retired from Hanes Hosiery with 27 ½ years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, John ""Bynum"" Brown, who was killed in WWII, her second husband, Rev. Howard L. Lawson Sr., who she married in August of 1945 and was a proud minister's wife until his retirement, a brother, Jesse Lee Boyd and two special sisters-in-laws, Betty Boyd and Helen Boyd. She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Lester Lawson, a brother, William ""Bill"" Boyd and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at Crestview Memorial park in Rural Hall with Rev. Tim Gammons officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 this evening September 9, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the LCNRC at the Oaks and the staff of the Palliative Care floor at Forsyth Medical Center for all the loving care that was shown in Mrs. Lawson's time of need.
