Mary Jarvis

Mrs. Mary Ann Walser Jarvis, 90, stepped into her Heavenly home on August 21, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Davidson County to the late Raymond Claude and Bernice Farrell Walser. After graduating high school, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, the late Wilbur Raleigh Jarvis. Mary Ann was a devoted wife and mother. She worked with children's Sunday School Ministry, was a choir director, and music teacher. Mary Ann was a strong woman with a big heart and kind soul. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, and her family beyond measure. Mary Ann was known in the community for her beautiful yard and passion for flowers and gardening. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Walser and a sister, Jacksie Plambeck. She is survived by her four sons: Steve Jarvis (Sandy) of Belews Creek, John Jarvis (Kathy) of King, Reed Jarvis (Stephanie) of Atlantic, NC, and Phil Jarvis of Charlotte; five grandchildren: Tammy Gfeller (Matt), Rebecca Lawrence, Jesse Jarvis, John W. Jarvis, and Austin Jarvis; three great-grandchildren: Eden Gfeller, Carson and Cora Lawrence; and special friend, Cynthia Saylor of Kernersville, who she thought of as a daughter. Her family and friends were blessed by her life and while she will be greatly missed, they take comfort in knowing that she is fully restored in the presence of the Lord. A celebration of Mary Ann's long and wonderful life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, at Rural Hall Moravian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dave Merritt and Bro. Ron Perkins officiating. The committal service will follow at Salem Cemetery on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 24, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or to Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, 718 Trade Street NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
