Mary Frances Glasscoe Idol

Kernersville - Mary Frances Glasscoe Idol, 93, wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born April 29, 1918 in Davidson Co. to the late John Harvey and Fannie Linville Glasscoe. Mrs. Idol was an active member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church and Circle# 1 of the United Methodist Women for many years. Mary graduated from Sedge Garden High School in 1937 and lived all her married life in the Bunker Hill Community. She and her husband Dale were pillars of the community. Mary was known for her talents of cooking and baking for her family, friends, neighbors and those in need. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, C. Dale Idol; son-in-law, Jay Grant; five brothers and sisters. Surviving are three daughters, Judy Hoyle and husband John of Kernersville, Mary Ellen St. Clair of Greensboro, and Vickie Grant of High Point; six grandsons, Jonathan Hoyle (Kris) of Greensboro, Jason Hoyle (Joanna) of Columbia, MD, Justin Hoyle (Rebecca) of Charleston, SC, Jared Hoyle of Auburn, AL, Jordan Grant and Austin Jay Grant both of High Point; three great-grandchildren, Katherine Hoyle, Walker Glass and Jacob Hoyle;one sister, Esther McCuiston Reed of Advance; sister-in-law, Margaret Glasscoe of High Point; and many special nieces, nephews, and extended family. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rorie and Rev. Ellis Rouse officiating. Burial will follow in Bunker Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Bunker Hill United Methodist Church or the Cemetery Fund, 1510 Bunker Hill-Sandy Ridge Rd., Kernersville, NC 27284 or charity of donor's choice. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her in-home caregivers and the doctors, nurses, and staff at Kernersville Medical Center who provided exceptional care for the last two weeks.
