In loving memory of Mary Ann Becht Hotvedt, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary was born in Detroit, Michigan to Frederick and Edna (Tharrett) Becht on December 25, 1938. She was the fourth of six siblings. She is survived by her loving children, son David Hotvedt (Valerie); daughter, Elise Gmuca (Ed); grandchildren, Marc Gmuca, Erica Hotvedt, Sam Gmuca (Katy), and Ryan Mason (Brittany); great grandchildren, Elijah, Micah, and Bella; sisters, Mildred Lindeman, Carol (Dan) Pelto, Karen (Lorin) Wood and many nieces and nephews. Mary was the ultimate homemaker. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening and entertaining. She was completely devoted to her husband, Dave, and her family. Mary was a friend to all. She was a member of Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Winston Salem, NC where she served on the altar guild and Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society. Mary was called home to her Lord and Savior on February 6, 2021 and is preceded in death by her husband, David Hotvedt; parents, Frederick Becht and Edna Becht Bauer; brother, James Becht and sister, Lynda Mead. A memorial remembrance for Mary and David will be held in June on what would have been their 61st wedding anniversary.
