Mary Alice Mabe Hazelwood

HAZELWOOD - Walnut Cove Mary Alice Mabe Hazelwood went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday morning, April 27, 2009. She enjoyed her time at the beach and spending time with her family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ludie M. Smith; four brothers, Harvey, Clyde, Russell and Freddie Mabe. Surviving to cherish her memory are three daughters, Ronda (Jeff) Holbrooks, Debbie Campbell, and Sonya (Matthew) Tilley; six grandchildren, Kyndal and Cory Shortt, Courtney Campbell, Emily and Hannah Wilson, and Matthew Trent; one brother, Wm. Curtis (Elsie) Mabe; one sister, Maxine Martin-Jones (Frank); two sisters-in-law, Margie Mabe and Liz Mabe; also several special nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 3 at Forest Chapel United Methodist Church on Pine Hall Rd. in Walnut Cove with the Rev. Gary Elrod officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Cancer Research Fund (Breast Cancer), Attn: Development & Alumni Affairs Office, Wake Forest University Health Sciences, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27157.
