Mary Ellen Collins Hamlin

Kernersville - Mrs. Mary Ellen Collins Hamlin age 85 of Kernersville passed away Saturday March 28, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born March 16, 1924 in Stokes County to William Lee Collins and Josie Sands Collin. Mrs. Hamlin was of the Baptist Faith, and retired from Burlington Industries. In addition to her parents Mrs. Hamlin was preceded in death by her husband Coley Bob Hamlin, a daughter Mary H. Nelson, a sister Mag Hamlin and a step-son Frank Hamlin. Surviving are two sons Billy Hamlin and wife Georgia and Jesse Hamlin and wife Leslie, two daughters Barbara Howell and husband Jack and Judy Mabe and husband Boyd, two step-daughters Ora Bean and Dorothy Brooks, two brothers Curtis and Homer Collins and a sister Rosie Collins; 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren and a special friend and companion Nona James and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2: 00 PM Monday March 30, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with the Rev. Roy Fagg and Gary Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery.
