Mary Lee Gamble

Mary Lee Gamble (Hickman) of Kernersville, North Carolina passed away December 31st, 2023 at the age of 70. She was born March 11th, 1953 in Shreveport, Louisiana to her loving mother James Etta Hickman (Fields) and father Clarence Manuel Hickman. Mary was a present and caring grandmother, dog owner, and friend. Known by her grandchildren as Mimi, Mary was a connoisseur of television and film, an avid player of Liverpool Rummy, had a beautifully sweet singing voice, and made the best fried chicken. She could always be counted on for a witty quip, a natural remedy, and a warm hug. Our Mimi will be fiercely missed by her family and friends. She joins in Heaven her precious mother, “Nanny”, her doting brothers, Clarence “Hick” Hickman and James Hickman, and dogs Cricket, Scooby Doo, Yeller, Molly Von Hatchett, Dakota, and Tater to look out for us all
from above.

Mary is survived by her sister, Betty Costelow of Henryetta, Oklahoma; three children, Angelia Christian (Campbell) and husband, “Johnboy” of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Paris Campbell and wife Cyndy of South Carolina; Daniel Gamble and wife Heather of Muskogee, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Hannah Marie Campbell, Emma Christian, Storm Christian, Kaylyn Hudson (Campbell), and Gareth Campbell; one great grandchild Mylah Hudson; nieces and nephews Jon David Hickman, Scott Hickman, Ben Hickman, Regina Hickman, Jessica Hickman, Hannah Hickman, Jodi Mitchell (Hickman), William Hickman, Waylon Hickman, Mark Kerby, and Rebekah Bailey; and many beloved cousins and friends.
