Mary Jean Shelton Fowler

WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Mary Jean Fowler, 54, died peacefully after a four week battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born January 28, 1959 in Marietta, Georgia to the late Kazumi Mukaeda and Lorenza McKinley Shelton, Jr. Mary was a member of Oak Summit Community Church of Christ and she loved her Lord. As the main office Administrative Assistant at Atkins High School, she had a passion for helping others, especially the students. Mary was well known for her creative and artistic talents. She enjoyed decorating, playing the guitar, gardening, fishing, camping, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be especially remembered for her fun, loving personality. She is survived by her husband, Randy Fowler of the home; two daughters, Michelle Fowler (fiancé, Tyler Martin) of Clemmons, NC and Sara Fowler of the home; two grand-daughters, Lyla Grace Martin and Bryna Hope Martin; three sisters, Marie Shelhorse (Mark) of Clover, SC, Margaret Binkley of Reidsville, NC, and Pam Moore (Howard) of Winston-Salem, NC; father-in-law, Bill Fowler of Walnut Cove, NC; mother-in-law, Agnes Fowler of Hardy, VA; brother-in-law, Dean Fowler (Karen) of Walnut Cove, NC; sister-in-law, Jan Hooker (Tom) of Hardy, VA; a number of nieces and nephews; and her canine buddy, Samuel - known as ""Hey Little Puppy"". A memorial service will be conducted at 2pm, Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Minister Dave Bohrer officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1:45pm prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Oak Summit Community Church of Christ; 284 Oak Summit Road; Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
