Mrs. Mary Edwards Farmer, 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1934 in Surry County to Will J. and Viola Mathis Edwards. Mrs. Farmer was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. She was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company with 41 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Harold Leroy Farmer; three brothers, Roscoe E., J.W. and Henry Edwards; and one sister, Betty Cook. Surviving are one son, Jamie Farmer and wife Candy of Charlotte; two daughters, Luann F. Phelps and husband Bobby of Lexington, Jodi F. Burton and husband Greg of Clemmons; six grandchildren, Jonathan and Wesley Farmer, Ryan and Neil Phelps, Carlee and Emilee Burton; two sisters, Ida McDonough of Winston-Salem and Fay Fleming of Mt. Airy; and one brother, Roger Edwards of Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Chris Byrne officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
