Mary Lou Edwards

KERNERSVILLE- Mrs. Mary Lou Gentry Edwards, 85, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at home. Mary was born June 12, 1930 in Jonesville, Surry County to Tyra Arville and Alva Jane Williams Gentry. Mary retired from AT & T in 1989. She loved her church family at First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing games and fellowshipping.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Edwards, Jr.; her daughter, Sandra Gail Gentry; and one sister, Loretta Gentry Binkley.
Surviving are her three children, Tim Gentry (Melissa), Pam Autry (Jerry), and Paula Venable (Rickie); nine grandchildren, Tonya, Clint, Timmy, Chris, Catie, Travis, Dakota, Dylan and Kayla; 13 great grandchildren; six siblings, Evon Gentry (Dell), James Gentry, Clara Tuttle, George Gentry (Gerry), Billy Gentry (Mary), and Laura Beamer (Bill).
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Kernersville with Dr. Steve Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
