Mary Elizabeth Hawks Draughn

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hawks Draughn, 84, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Oak Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born February 7, 1931 in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late Friel and Nora Elizabeth Galyean Hawks. Mrs. Draughn was of the Baptist Faith and retired from Sears and Roebuck following 53 years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Parrish and Opal James. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon D. Valdez and husband, Andres of Clemmons; one son, Marvin E. Draughn, Jr. and wife, Charly of Browns Summit; two grandchildren, Eric Draughn of Charlotte and Joshua Tutterow of Winston-Salem; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Hailey Tutterow; three brothers, Porter Hawks and Bill Hawks and wife, Margaret of Stokesdale and Jeff Hawks and wife, Wanda of Wellford, SC; one sister, Brenda Davis and husband, Mike of Arcadia; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM.
