Mary Crater Crutchfield

Mrs. Mary Crater Crutchfield, 95, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Bermuda Commons in Advance. She was born on February 7, 1917 in Forsyth County to James Monroe and Jessie Kimel Crater. She was a member of Christ Moravian Church and was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 43 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harmon I. Crutchfield and daughter-in-law, Donna Crutchfield. Surviving are 3 sons, Terry Crutchfield (Jeanne) of Winston-Salem, Larry Crutchfield of Wilmington and Harmon Crutchfield of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Nita Crutchfield of Advance; 4 grandchildren, Greg, Bryan, Amy and Wade; 12 great-grandchildren,; 2 brothers, Doug Crater (Sandy) and Marvin Crater (Janet), all of Winston-Salem; a sister, Evelyn Vickers of Winston-Salem; and a sister-in-law, Nina Ely. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Christ Moravian Church with Rev. Roger Kimball officiating. Burial will follow in the Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Moravian Church, 904 W. Academy St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or to Liberty Hospice, 316 NC Highway 801 S., Advance, NC 27006.
