Mary Spainhour Crutchfield

Oak Ridge - Mrs. Mary Otelia Spainhour Crutchfield, 77, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Beacon Place. She was born September 12, 1938 in Stokes County to the late John Russell Spainhour and Avah Augusta Bowen. Mary was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, where she played the piano for many years. She retired from Sears and Roebuck.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ervin Crutchfield; and two brothers, Russ and Elton Spainhour.

Surviving are children, Connie Blackburn (husband, Joey), Jeffrey Crutchfield (wife, Tum), Amy Nappier (husband, Robert), Kathleen Whitaker (husband, Andy), and Elaine Smith (husband, Craig); ten grandchildren, Shane (wife, Jaclyn), Ross, Nathan, Monica, Evan, Cara, Paul, Thomas, Owen, and Abigail; two step-grandchildren, Chase (wife, Rosa) and Nikki (husband, Eddie); two great grandchildren, Bentley Glenn and Bailee Grace; and one step great-grandchild, Audrey. Also surviving are siblings, Paul Spainhour (wife, Marie), Harold Spainhour (wife, Mary Alice), Doris Hockett, Lib Bass, and Lucy Boyles (husband, James); and many precious nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, February 29, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Mr. Van Smith and Mr. Tim Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice-Beacon Place, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC, 27405 or Freedom Baptist Church, c/o James Boyles, 1318 Old Salem Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
