Mrs. Mary Wilson Courtney, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Courtney was born on March 12, 1928 to the late Harvey Howard and Winifred Juanita Wilson. Mary worked for the Illinois State Government and she retired from the Illinois State Scholarship Commission where she was a Skip Tracer. She enjoyed painting, dancing, reading, birds, cats and most of all, her loving family. Preceding Mrs. Courtney in death along with her parents are her husband, Edgar ""Pat"" Neville Courtney; a brother, Jerry Wilson; and a great-grandson, Jacob Boyle. Surviving Mrs. Courtney are her children, Carolyn Haiman of Winston-Salem, Howard Courtney (Connie) of Trevor, Wisconsin, Joyce Pringle (Bud) of Chelsea, Maine, Gwen Humphrey (David) of Norfork, Arkansas, Steve Courtney of Monroe, NC, and Tina Koeller (Kevin) of Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Friday, June 21, 2013 at Main St. United Methodist Church in Kernersville, NC with Rev. Jeff Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
