Mary Sue Collis

Collis Miss Mary Sue Collis, 73, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Miss Collis was born in Mitchell County on July 21, 1935 to the late Thad and Amy Washburn Collis. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and retired from retail sales after many years of service. Miss Collis enjoyed traveling, knitting, and collecting decorative bells. She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Collis. Miss Collis is survived by three sisters, Betty Stotts of Columbia, SC, Sarah Stump and husband Ross of Winston-Salem, and Elaine Collis of Spruce Pine; three brothers Leon Collis and wife Faye of Gastonia, Tom Collis and wife Pat of Spruce Pine, and Roger Collis and wife Jewel of Belews Creek; and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Ross Stump officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Collis Family Cemetery in Little Switzerland, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
