Mary Welch Collins

KERNERSVILLE - Mary Welch Collins, 84, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mary was born on May 16, 1931 in Alabama to the late Ted and Eva Lois Couch Welch. She retired from F.W. Woolworth Co. with over 46 years of service, being a part of its origination and staying with them after retirement to help close the business. Mary was a simple, unassuming person who was very dedicated to her husband, family, work and church. Her faith journey began at City View Baptist, continuing at Edgewood Baptist Church, where she was an active member for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charlie Collins; and a brother Buddy Welch. Surviving are her daughter, Robin McCraw (Bonner); her son, Dennis Collins; 3 grandchildren, Melissa Roth (Chris), Krista White (Joseph), and Laura McCraw; 8 great grandchildren, Tarah, Amara, Tyler, Emily, Kabri, Khloe, Chance, and Tanner; a sister, Dorothy Schultz; a brother, Bobby Welch (Carol); a sister-in-law, Dorothy Welch; and a faithful friend of over 50 years, Bobbie Jones.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dennis Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
